December 2018 Update - New Births

We want to say a huge THANK YOU for your prayers and support over the past months! So much has happened in our lives and so VERY MUCH to give thanks for God for!

"Praise the LORD! I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation." Psalm 111:1

Collins (our firstborn granddaughter) and Crew (her twin brother) were born November 30— weighing in at 5.2 lbs. respectively! They are so tiny and so delicate… we had forgotten how beautiful and yet how truly helpless a newborn can be! What a joy to be near Cory and Amy and help them provide care for these little ones... like night feedings every 3 hours!!

This fall also brought the birth of "Worthy Leaders" …a ministry focused on mentoring and discipling young leaders for the next generation!

Thanks to the generosity of many of our friends and family, we will begin pouring into leaders who in turn will be equipped to pour into other leaders in 2019!

We want to move into this new season of mentorship with God's team of partners! We need you and other partners to join us by praying for this work and giving financially to invest in next generation leaders.

In partnership with Reliant Mission, we are receiving tax deductible donations to Reliant Mission for the work of the Cottons and Worthy Leaders.*
Will you join our team to PRAY and GIVE between NOW and December 31?

For this Advent season, Diann is writing 12 Days of WONDER and Catherine is providing the watercolor illustrations @100dayswithjesus and @marrymeinspring.

DAY 5

FIRSTBORN SON "And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her FIRSTBORN SON and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn." Luke 2:4-7

Definition of FIRSTBORN SON : first brought forth : eldest son
JESUS, You are Mary's FIRSTBORN SON! You were the eldest in the family of Mary and Joseph - the first to be brought forth. This was probably not how Mary envisioned the birth of her FIRSTBORN SON. When the angel spoke to her and told her she would have a Child, who would be Great and who would be called the Son of the Most High, she did not picture the birth of this Baby in a stable with animals, a feeding trough for His bed, miles from her home with no family or friends near. But this was all part of the WONDER of Your plan! This was no accident or mistake - to be in Bethlehem in a stable on the night of Your birth. You had this planned all along! (Micah 5:2) Mary and Joseph were in the perfect place for Your plan to unfold! Oh the WONDER of the birth of Mary's FIRSTBORN SON! #100dayswithjesus #12daysofWONDER Illustrations by @marrymeinspring

Answer these questions along with me:

1. What plan in my life is not unfolding the way I envisioned?
2. How can I begin to trust God's bigger plan and surrender my will as Mary did?

Please PRAY with us:

  • For us to continue to connect with God's ministry support team for the new work Worthy Leaders. Pray that everyone who can, would join our team by December 31st.

  • For God to lead us to those He wants us to mentor in this new ministry to young adults!

  • For continued growth and health for baby Crew and Collins!

*We ask that any commitments to giving towards the Cottons and mentoring the next generation, would please be "in addition to" your current commitments to your local church and ministries.
